Imagine...A Greenway to Spring Lake
What is "Imagine"/ SDAT?
The American Institute of Architects (AIA) has selected the Southeast Greenway Campaign to participate in their 2011 Sustainable Design Assessment Team (SDAT), a community assistance program that helps communities develop a vision and framework for a sustainable future. We are honored to receive this award, which offers our community an estimated $100,000 in consulting expertise and $15,000 for program expenses. The Southeast Greenway campaign has provided the required $5,000 community matching funds.

How Will Our Community Benefit?
Veteran SDAT team leader Wayne Feiden of Northampton, MA, along with AIA SDAT staff Joel Mills and Erin Simmons, conducted a preliminary fact finding visit to Santa Rosa in February. They then selected a multidisciplinary national team with expertise tailored to the needs of our project. This team visited Santa Rosa June 6 – 8, 2011, collecting ideas and input from over 300 citizens including neighbors, youth and local stakeholders. They met with local officials from the city of Santa Rosa, Sonoma County and Caltrans. Additionally, they reviewed scores of existing maps and reports about the greenway and surrounding area. Their goal was to create a vision for the greenway and help frame future design solutions and policies in the context of sustainability. Click here for more information about our SDAT national team.
